Wind and Hail Damage with Team Roofing and Remodeling

Severe wind and hail storms can be unsettling, even when you are safely inside your home. Unfortunately, these storms often leave behind roof damage that is not always easy to spot right away.

After a storm, there are several visible warning signs that may indicate your roof has been damaged. Looking for these issues from the ground can help you decide when it’s time to call a professional.

Check your yard for fallen shingles, and look at your roof for shingles that are missing, cracked, curling, or out of place. These issues create bare spots that leave your roof exposed and vulnerable to water intrusion. Prompt repairs are essential to prevent additional damage.

How it works

From first call to finished job

  1. Step 1

    Tell us what's going on

Call or send a request with your address and what you're seeing: a leak, missing shingles, hail damage or just an old roof. Photos help if you have them.

  2. Step 2

    Roof inspection

The shingles, flashing, vents, pipe boots and gutters are checked, along with the attic or ceiling where water shows up, to find the cause and not just the stain.

  3. Step 3

    A clear quote

You get a quote that spells out the scope of work and the materials, with options when there's more than one sensible way to fix the roof.

  4. Step 4

    The work and the cleanup

The job is scheduled around the weather and your calendar. When it's done, the site is cleaned up, nails and debris included, and the finished work is walked through with you.

What's included

Wind and Hail Damage: what we handle

  • Hail damage: Bruised or cracked shingles, granule loss, and dents in vents, flashing, gutters and downspouts.
  • Wind damage: Lifted, creased or missing shingles, broken seal strips and damaged ridge caps, repaired before the next storm gets under them.
  • Temporary protection: Tarps or temporary covers over openings to keep rain out until permanent repairs are made.
  • Photos of the damage: Damage documented with photos, so you can see what was found and share it with your insurance company if you file a claim.
  • Fallen limbs: Roof damage from fallen branches assessed and repaired once the tree debris has been cleared.
  • Repair or replace: Isolated damage is repaired; hail damage spread across the whole roof often calls for a full replacement.

FAQ

Wind and Hail Damage: common questions

How can I tell if hail damaged my roof?

From the ground, look for dents in gutters, downspouts, vents and siding, and for granules washed out of the downspouts. On the roof itself, hail leaves dark spots where granules were knocked off and soft, bruised areas in the shingles. If you see dented metal, have the roof checked even if it isn't leaking.

Should I go up on the roof after a storm?

It's safer not to. Wet or damaged shingles are slippery, and storm damage can hide weakened areas. Take photos from the ground, note the date of the storm, and leave the climbing to a roofer with the right safety equipment.

Will my insurance company pay for storm damage?

Many homeowner's policies cover sudden damage from hail and wind, but coverage, deductibles and deadlines for reporting damage vary. Check your policy, document the damage with photos and contact your insurer. They decide what's covered; an inspection gives you a clear picture of the damage before the adjuster visits.
